MARY CUBBERLY
Sculptor and Fabric Artist
For years I have loved tending my herb garden and working with plants. I have long been interested in natural dyeing and have taken a variety of immersion dyeing and indigo workshops in the past. It all came together as an unstoppable passion when I saw how fiber artist Irit Dulman prints leaves and flowers on fabric. I immediately signed up for her course and dove into learning her technique.
I continue to be amazed and surprised by the clarity of the prints and by how each leaf gives a unique and individual print. Most of the leaves and flowers I print come from plants I've grown myself or foraged locally. I print on natural fibers: Silk, linen, hemp, and organic cotton. Currently, I mainly have scarves and napkins, but will be adding bags and tunics.
